The basics of my power skating system include:
1. Edges
2. Body Position/Strength

4. Balance and Power (for ultimate "gliding")
5. Quick Starts
6. Forward and Backward Skating
7 . Skating on a Curve
8. Turns
9. Stops and Restarts
10. Strong Stick Position/Control
All of these skills contribute to power, speed, acceleration, and agility.
My initial focus is on stability and balance.
It then progresses to power, speed, and acceleration,
from there we work on agility,
and then build in game situation skills.
From practices, exercises, drills and game simulations - the effort a skater and team puts into improving its skating skills is what it gets out of it.
